I’m Here
(June 2024)
Here is a song that I did with another friend. I asked around if anyone had any poems that I might be able to put to music. One person responded with a poem that was obviously deeply personal. I am very thankful that she shared her vulnerability with me, and therefore, with all of us. The poem came about when she was driving on a highway during winter, and a song came on the radio that reminded her of her father, who had passed away about 5 years previously. She was so taken by the moment, that she wanted to use her voice dictation on her phone to get out some words and thoughts while they were fresh. When she said the words “Five years”, her phone typed out “I’m here”. This happened 3 times and then it struck her that her dad was there with her.
Thank you Gillian for sharing yourself. It’s not easy being vulnerable. I hope you are as happy as I am with what we created together.

(Sept 2023)
Thank you Jay for allowing me to be a part of your final musical journey. It was intense, and fun, and emotional, and much too short. (R.I.P. Sept 28, 2023)
Thank You Arron
This is Jay’s final opus. It’s about meeting the next chapter of his life head on with a sense of wonder and anticipation. The title is a reference to Elvis Aaron Presley who was a big musical influence on him. He spelled “Arron” differently as a nod to his connection to many faiths and spiritual outlooks. Hence the “gospel” choir. Thanks to Jessica E. who provided background vocals. Thanks to Shawn K. and Nicky for the guitar solos.
Why
This was the first song Jay and I did together. He had recently gotten the news he was not long for this earth. So we decided music would be a way to move forward. We wrote this song on his back porch in the summer of 2023. I used the video Anna took and started recording the parts of the song. Then I stuck it on an iPad and took a mic over to his place so we could record him singing. We sent his friend Nicky the tracks and he added strings, guitar solos, and some background vocals. This became our workflow moving forward. This song is about accepting life on life’s terms. Thanks to Jessica E. for helping with the background vocals.
Moment
This is the second song we did together. Once we did the first, Jay got excited to do more. It was pretty much the same process, but I had to figure out the rhythms of his guitar playing from some shaky videos I recorded of him on his front porch. The song is about time, and life, and enjoying the special moments along the way. Thanks again to Jessica E. for help with the background vocals. I think her voice adds the perfect dusting and shimmer to all these songs.

Walk Away
Sometimes in life, the right choice is to just walk away.
Little Things
It’s the little things in relationships that keep people in love. Words are important, but actions mean so much more.
Steps
Here is the latest (Dec 6th, 2023) working version of my new song. Fixed the percussion groove… AGAIN. Re-recorded 2 tracks of vocals, but I have a cold/sore throat so I could only do it twice and my voice wouldn’t do quite what I wanted, but the timing is better on these tracks so they will stay for now. I moved a few words around too as they made more sense to me this way.
Working on a slightly slower acoustic based version.
I have started working on a version that is a bit slower at 97 bpm. Have to rerecord everything. Patience please 🙂
